Professional Licensed Tattoo Artist in San Francisco bay area.
17 years tattoo artist experience
Born in Montevideo-Uruguay in 1984.
From an early age I liked to draw from observation, bringing as much of the real world into my drawings as possible. My first tattoo I gave to myself at the age of 10 with a sawing needle and blue bic pen ink.
I got my first professional tattoo at a tattoo shop back in Uruguay at the age of 13 with my dad’s signature for approval in 1997, but didn’t start tattooing until the age of 24 years old.
By that time living in South Florida, working in the bar/restaurant industry, would spend most days off spending most of my checks on tattoos, had over 180 hours of tattoo work done on my body , more than 60% of my skin covered throughout many cities by many different tattoo artist.
While getting tattooed, I had the opportunity and privilege to watch and learn from many Tattoo Artists who had different styles and ways of working, over the course of my extensive sittings. After being around tattoo parlors, and artist so much and knowing I could draw since birth, I decided to dedicate my life to learn this art form that it was becoming so in part my life. I went on Ebay and bought a full tattoo kit, and started tattooing and teaching myself
Since the fist tattoo I did, Realism is the style of Tattooing that I enjoy working with the most, like my drawings as a kid, my lines since I started tattooing were never too clean, unlike my realistic work, so soon after starting I realized that realism will be my only style of tattooing .
Like in my early age drawings, I really enjoy replicating real-life images, particularly Portraits.
I break down the visual information in a Photo that allows me to replicate it onto my clients skin.
I also like making most ideas into realistic 3D Tattoos. Not only replicating a Photo, like I would with a Photo, but also giving volume and shape to any Idea or Design to make it look 3d photo realistic, instead of an outlined drawing.
Doing this without using outlines, I primarily push shapes using strong contrast in colors or shades and value, making the Tattoo truly 3D.
I use stencils for Portraits, to get perfect guide lines, but I like to Free Hand a lot of my pieces when I can to make sure the design fits as naturally as possible.
